"Cicada (Album Version)" is a vicious track. It is just as brutal live as it is in this recording. The frenetic drum work by Chase sets a blistering tempo under the the staccato chug riffing of the rhythm guitars and growling rumble of the bass.

Malcolm began to also experiment a bit more with the vocal tracking at this point in the recording. The call-and-response of the lows and highs are the staple to the ending in the bridge section, this also reoccurs in Her Taste of Sin, that makes the two tracks jump out on vocal performance level.

The melodic identity of the band surfaced in the lead work of Cicada - featuring the work of Bronson and Ryan trading back-to-back leads.
